Matching the Trimming Press to the Forging Operation
Flash profile
Start with the forging drawing and the flash detail. Measure the flash area and thickness, then compare the trimming tool with the proposed press and die support. Do not select a trimmer from nominal force alone.
Tool envelope
Check the trimming-tool height, table footprint, slide interface, stroke and shut height. Include the tool mass and the route for loading, changing and removing the tool.
Pace of the operation
