A 250 Ton Rating Is a Starting Point

Match the process first

Nominal force alone does not determine whether a press suits the job. At 250 tons, screw presses, eccentric presses and trimming presses use different drive systems, strokes and tooling, so the operation should be matched before comparing price or condition.

Cold stamping

A 250-ton eccentric press such as the KA2534 is intended for cold sheet-metal operations including blanking, punching, bending and shallow drawing. Tool height, table size, stroke and cushion data determine whether the die set will fit.

Forging and forming

A 250-ton screw press stores energy in its flywheel and releases it through the screw drive. It is used for forging, forming and some trimming work, where the required forming energy and stroke are as important as the nominal rating.

Flash trimming

A 250-ton trimming press removes flash from forged parts after the forging operation. It must be selected around the forging outline, trimming die dimensions, required stroke and production rate rather than as a substitute for the forging press itself.

How the Available 250 Ton Presses Differ

The current 250-ton range covers different production tasks. The Stanko F1734 and F1734A are screw presses with long strokes for forming and forging work; the F1734A also has a lower ejector. The KA2534 is a single-crank eccentric press for cold sheet-metal stamping. The Smeral LKT 250 is a mechanical trimming press for post-forging flash removal. Their shared force rating does not make their tooling or production roles interchangeable.

What to Confirm Before Choosing a 250 Ton Press

Tooling envelope

Compare the die dimensions with table and slide size, shut height, adjustment range and available daylight. A press with the correct tonnage may still be unsuitable if the existing die cannot be mounted safely.

Drive and condition

Inspect the screw and nut on a screw press; crankshaft, clutch, brake and slide guides on an eccentric press; and the drive, guides and die area on a trimming press. Confirm lubrication and electrical-cabinet condition for any used machine.

Installation and transport

Foundation drawings, lifting points, dismantling scope, loading sequence and route constraints should be agreed before purchase. TRIGA can arrange inspection and plan packing and transport once the destination is known.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

The current 250-ton range includes screw presses, an eccentric press and a trimming press. Each type is intended for a different operation, so we confirm the part, material, die and production requirement before recommending a machine.

No. A trimming press is normally used after forging to remove flash from a forged part. For the forging operation itself, choose a press based on the forming process, die, stroke, energy and production rate.

Send the part drawing or photo, material and dimensions, operation, die dimensions, required production rate and destination. This lets us check the machine type, tooling envelope and logistics scope.

Yes. We arrange inspection at the storage location by appointment. Depending on site utilities, a running demonstration, additional photographs and a video walk-through may also be available.

Yes. We can coordinate dismantling, lifting, protective packing, loading and transport. The final scope depends on the machine, pickup site and destination.
