About TMP Voronezh (TyazMekPress)
TMP Voronezh was established on 14 July 1949. The plant manufactured its first machine, the K265 (315-ton sheet-stamping press), in 1953 and began exporting immediately: the first shipments went to China, Czechoslovakia and Poland. Over the following decades, TMP Voronezh grew into the primary Soviet supplier of heavy crank and knuckle joint presses, with an output range spanning from 160-ton eccentric presses to 16,500-ton hot forging lines, the largest mechanical forging presses built in the USSR.
The K8542 (1600-ton hot forging) became the most widely installed heavy forging press in Soviet-bloc forging plants. Its eccentric crank drive, 300 mm stroke and 110 kW main motor suit medium and large automotive forgings (crankshafts, axle beams, steering components) and railway parts. The K/KA2536 trimming press family (400 ton, 250 mm stroke) runs at the end of forging lines to trim flash from hot forgings and is frequently found paired with K8542 or similar hot forging presses.
The KB8044 and K504 designations (2500-ton knuckle joint) are TMP Voronezh's heavy-end output. These machines (125 tons, 4.9 × 3.3 × 6 m) ran in heavy industry and defence production forging shops. They rarely surface outside Russia; the units at TRIGA were sourced from a Polish forging plant that operated them through the 1990s and 2000s.
In 2014, the Voronezh factory re-registered as TyazMekPress JSC (ТяжМехПресс АО) and continues production at its original Solnechnaya Street facility. Current spare parts catalogues exist for most TMP press families, and replacement components from the original manufacturer remain obtainable.

What to Check When Buying a Used TMP Voronezh Press
Eccentric shaft and main bearings
Measure radial play in the main shaft bearings. Excessive play on the K8542 causes stroke irregularity, increases die wear and is expensive to correct: the main shaft must be pulled. Check the bearing housing for fretting.
Clutch and brake
TMP presses use pneumatic disc clutches. Check lining wear, spring pressure and the pneumatic pressure switch settings. A degraded clutch extends the stopping angle beyond the certified safe value and will fail a safety audit.
Frame inspection
On the K8542, inspect the crown and side frame for cracks at the corners, which concentrate stress under load. On the KB8044/K504, check tie rods and tie rod nuts for elongation.
Trimming die guidance (K2536 / KA2536)
Slide clearance on trimming presses directly affects cut quality. Check the gibs and guide strips for wear. On the KA2536, verify the hydraulic overload protection is functional; absent or bypassed overload protection is a common defect on older units.
Electrical system
Original TMP electrical panels are 380 V, 50 Hz and may require adaptation for local supply standards. Verify the main contactor, overload relay and two-hand control are present and functional before shipment.

Both are 400-ton trimming presses from TMP Voronezh with identical nominal force and 250 mm stroke. The 'KA' prefix indicates a modernised variant with minor design improvements; in practice the machines are interchangeable. Specifications and table dimensions are the same: 1000 × 1000 mm table, 40 kW motor, 25 spm.

Standard bearings, clutch linings and pneumatic components are available off-the-shelf; TyazMekPress JSC (the current manufacturer) continues production and can supply parts for legacy TMP models directly.
The K8542 is a 1600-ton crank hot forging press with a 300 mm stroke and 75 spm. It is used for hot die forging of medium to large automotive parts (crankshafts, axle beams, connecting rods), railway components (wheel hubs, axle blanks) and heavy engineering forgings. The 110 kW main motor and 940 × 1200 mm table suit multi-die setups.
