What Does a Coining Press Do?
Coining
The slide strikes the part at full tonnage near bottom dead centre, forcing metal into fine die details. Used for sharp edges, engraved features and tight thickness tolerances on flat or near-flat parts.
Sizing (calibration)
A controlled final squeeze that brings a forged or machined part to its finished dimension within a narrow tolerance band, without removing material.
Precision stamping and fine blanking
High tonnage at low slide velocity gives a clean shear and flat part, an advantage over faster general-purpose stamping presses on thicker or harder stock.
